The NYC Roastery has been on strike for ten days now over an urgent health and safety issue. Yesterday, Workers United filed an Unfair Labor Practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board asking it to investigate the NYC Roastery over its allegation that the company’s failure to provide information violated the law. Management confirmed that there had been prior reporting of the presence of bed bugs, and have said that they have remediated the issue. The Union has requested information (the inspection or remediation report), per its legal right, so that workers can make decisions regarding their health and safety. Management has thus far failed to provide this information. The charge will be investigated. 

New York, NY – On the heels of the union victories at the NYC Starbucks Reserve Roastery and at Astor Place in April, three more stores in the NYC Metro area were successful in their union elections today.

Today the National Labor Relations Board counted the ballots for the mail ballot union election at the Astor Place Starbucks.

On the heels of the massive union victory at the NYC Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Chelsea earlier this month, and unanimous wins at stores across the country over the last few days, four more stores in NYC and the metro area filed union petitions today.
