New Jersey’s Largest LGBTQ+ Advocacy Organization Launches Union Campaign with our Joint Board!

Yesterday, employees of Garden State Equality, New Jersey’s largest LGBTQ+ advocacy, education, and wellness organization, announced their unionization campaign with Workers United NY/NJ: Garden State Equality Workers United (GSEWU).  See their petition to management here.

GSEWU is fighting for fairer wages, transparency, anti-racism, and digital safety on the job.

“I’m excited about starting and joining a union because it’s a powerful step toward fairness, respect, and having a real voice at work. Together, we can create lasting change and build a workplace where everyone thrives.” – Dwana Young (she/her), Self-Healing Communities Program Manager

“As an employee of Garden State Equality, I feel immense pride to carry out our mission of advocacy everyday. Forming a union is another way of advancing that same mission.” – Nat Hernandez (she/they), Project Manager and Trainer for Education and Youth Development

“It is with immense pride that we announce the union campaign at Garden State Equality. As workers at the largest LGBTQ+ advocacy organization in New Jersey, their efforts to defend the rights and well-being of a community under increasing attack have never been more important. We know that queer and trans rights are also workers rights and remain steadfast in our support of their unionization effort. We look forward to welcoming them to our union family,” said Julie Kelly (she/her), General Manager, Workers United NY/NJ.
