New York Clothing Manufacturers’ Scholarship Fund

About the Union Scholarship

The New York Clothing Manufacturers’ Scholarship Fund provides $1,250.00 for fours year to children of eligible Union members whose employer contributes to the scholarship fund.

The New York New Jersey Regional Joint Board of Workers United established the Fund in January 1973. The first award ceremony was held on June 18th, 1973.  The scholarship awarded the first recipient $500.00 per year.  The amount of the scholarship has steadily increased over the years. In 2003, it was raised to $1,250.00.

Since the founding of the program, 578 scholarships have been awarded.  Of the 578 student award winners, 566 have successfully graduated from college.

Application Guidelines

Application Deadline: 2013 DEADLINE HAS PASSED.  The 2014 deadline will be posted at the end of 2013.

How to apply:

1. Check to see if you are eligible.  The scholarship is available to the children of employees whose employer contributes to the scholarship fund.  A full list of participating employers is found below.

2. Fill out a Scholarship Application before the deadline and submit it by mail to: New York New Jersey Regional Joint Board, 18 Washington Place, Newark, NJ 07102.  If you have any questions, call the Joint Board at (212) 475-3131 or talk to your Union Representative.

3. Awards are announced in June.  Good luck!
