On International Workers’ Day, the New York New Jersey Regional Joint Board joined NYCOSH, Adhikaar, and the Healthy Nail Salon Coalition to support the introduction of the Healthy Nail Salons bill by Public Advocate Letitia James.

The purpose of the bill is to create an enforceable framework for raising health and safety standards in New York City nail salons.  According to Charlene Obernauer, Executive Director of New York Committee for Occupational Safety and Health (NYCOSH), “Nail salons make up one of the most toxic industries in the city – both for workers and for customers. This bill is a step forward on a long road towards building healthier salons in our communities.”
