Thousands Take to the Streets to Demand Better Wages and Sick Leave

The New York New Jersey Regional Joint Board, Workers United, joined thousands of people on July 24 to demand an increase in the minimum wage, paid sick leave, and dignity for all workers.  A broad coalition of labor unions, community groups, and faith leaders came together to denounce the attacks on New York workers’ living standards and right to organize.  After the rally, some participants set out on busses to send a message to some of New York’s worst, most exploitative employers while others marched to ConEd headquarters where 8,500 workers are still being kept from their jobs.
